Will iSearch solve all our search issues? |
Hello,
I think your iSearch module might be the solution we're looking for to improve our search functionality.
A little background: we currently have auto suggest (via product tags in ADMIN) and additional search options available (click on magnifying lens icon to see other searchable fields). Can we use this module as an add-on/enhancement to what we currently have?
These are SOME of the search requirements we're hoping to solve:
- Misspellings
- Singular vs. plural
- Different possible brand name spellings or short-hand versions of the brand (e.g. Lectrosonics can be searched as Lectro, Beyerdynamic as Beyer, K-Tek can be Ktek, etc).
- Stemming or search for the roots of words, not whole words. For example search for "fishing" will give results with "fishing", "fished", "fishes", "fish" etc.
- Symbols or characters in searches, e.g. "director's chair" should be able to return "directors chair". Some customers also search using characters such as hyphens, apostrophes, inch (“) or foot/feet (‘) sign, period (.), and even a space in between terms
The first two, you already cover/solve. But will iSearch solve the rest I listed?
Also, will the number of searchable categories selected slow down the search?
Do I have to provide search terms/product tags for each product for this module to work?
Can iSearch search non-product pages such as blogs, our site’s “information” pages, videos (found in a “tab” section of our product page), etc.?
Lastly, what if our opencart version is older than 1.5.3. Will it not work?
As with most sites, we are trying to help the least savviest/inexperienced searcher. Personally, I'm trying to make our CEO happy.
Thank you for your time.
Hello A,
As I can see, you have quite a lot of specifications posted here. Some of them are supported out of the box, while others needs to be customized in order to work as you want. Can you please type your full specifications on your sales team on sales [at] isenselabs.com so they can see what can they do for you?
Hope this helps!
