When I try to import Options in Opencart 1.5.6 with ExcelPort 1.6.1 the status hangs at 'Preparing data...' and nothing happens. I tried it on two different installations, one on a local server and one online. I also tested importing Products which worked fine. So is this a bug or am I the only one? Exporting Options also works fine by the way.

Yes, we consider adding the "import as new ones" feature for options within Q1. I believe it is best if you open up a support ticket, where you can give us more info on the issue you are experiencing.
