Hello ILIYA,

From the attachment I can see that you have converted the file to the unsupported by ExcelPort xls format. ExcelPort supports only the new xlsx format.

Try saving the Excel file as xlsx and then import through ExcelPort. This should do the job.

Hope this helps!

I don't understand why we have to use a microsft proprietary format xlsx that is not supported by opensource programs like openoffice in order to use excelport. Opencart is open source - hence providing a platform for isense to do your business. Why do you now force your clients to use xlsx requiring a microsoft license.....

Hello Allan,

We are not forcing our customers to use Microsoft Office at all.

According to the release notes of OpenOffice ( reference: http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/features/3.0/) They support xlsx from 3.0 on. Here is the official statement:

In addition to read and write support for the Microsoft Office binary file formats (.doc; .xls, .ppt, etc.), OpenOffice.org 3.0 is now capable of opening files created with Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac OS X (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx, etc.). Thus, OpenOffice.org users can interact with users still using Microsoft Office. The various filters for the Microsoft Office file formats also make mixed environments possible, so that some users stay on Microsoft Office while others use OpenOffice.org.

Additionally other free Office provides such as LibreOffice support .xlsx file format. A good example would be LibreOffice, which is absolutely free: http://www.libreoffice.org.

Here is the list more than 15 programs accross various platforms supporting .xlsx file format,  reference (Fileinfo): http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/xlsx.

Hope this helps!

Hi Mihail,

Thank you, I already installed libreoffice this weekend and resolved the problem, by the way as stated above, openoffice only opens xlsx doesn't allow you to save files as xlsx.

One other question if I create a full prduct list with 5000 products and import, does the program automatically import it in chunks (such as 500) or do I need to cut the list up into 10 different excels? I want to be sure before I import so the site doesn't go down.

Thanks

Allan

Hello Allan,

If you create a full product list of x products, following the pre-defined ExcelPort layout and import, ExcelPort will start importing the products. If for some reason the number of products is found too big for your server, you will have to split the sheet into two files. We always recommend to do a full back-up before export/importing.
