I will go point by point on your questions.

1. You can change the slideshow speed by editing the file /catalog/view/theme/garmento/template/module/slideshow.tpl, on line 42 modify the number 3000 to the duration you need. Note: The speed is set in Milliseconds. This will change the cycle time for each slide. If wish to add more options or change the already existing ones, you can follow the plugin's documentation http://www.woothemes.com/flexslider/
