I am looking into your Excelport extension.  I checked the demo (http://excelport.demo.isenselabs.com/oc2/admin/index.php?route=module/excelport) and it does not seem right.  Shouldn't grouped export include options and attributes and other one to many fields?  Your demo does not export that even though your bulk export indicates they exist.  I want to see what it looks like.  If it doesnt then whats the difference between basic export and grouped.

Also for the bulk export what does the meta tab in the sheet do (does it import or is it just for info) and why is the options column empty in the meta spreadsheet tab.  Shouldn't the options from options tab be listed in that meta options column?  I see the options column in the group export meta tab does list the options so something must be wrong with the bulk export meta tab.

What purpose does the template tab server in the grouped export.  

Can I have products updated based on sku or model rather than product id?

To answer your questions:

It does. Notice the + symbols at the left of the Products table. Use them to expand the product information.

All data in the Meta sheet is used during the import. The purpose of this data is the following:

1) To allow Excel Data Validations (drop-downs for values like Enabled/Disabled, Yes/No, etc.) 2) To serve as reference for the user. If you want to see the Category ID of a specific category, this is listed in the Meta sheet.

Shouldn't the options from options tab be listed in that meta options column?

The Meta tab in Bulk export has known issues, which will be resolved in the next release of ExcelPort.

What purpose does the template tab server in the grouped export.  

In relation to my response above regarding the + symbols in Grouped Export, the template tab holds the template for a grouped product item. You may use it if you want to create a new product entry in Grouped Mode.

Can I have products updated based on sku or model rather than product id?

No. Products are updated solely based on their Product ID. Such a feature is possible to implement as an extra service, but it is not part of a default ExcelPort installation.
