Using either the internal installer or copying from ftp the Codemanager files to root of your public_html or www or home directory, create a directory called tmp in the root of the public_html or www or home directory so it appears as follows for mine its

dev.comptools.co.uk/public_html/tmp

then either edit php.ini or create a file called .user.ini in www or public_html or home, you must included the dot before user

and add the line as for example my sites line is....

session.save_path= "/var/sites/d/dev.comptools.co.uk/public_html/tmp/"

but your paths will be different dependant on your host or if doing locally.

im presuming most can get away with just "www.mywebsite.com/public_html/tmp"

the black screen is caused by a session error because the Code Manager looks for an absolute path defined,

as for absolute path errors,

and in /public_html/vendors/codemanager edit config.php in there is the lines below.....

make sure your paths look like mine but without the var/sites/d/ mine is host specific and your paths will be different.

// PATH TO CODIAD define("BASE_PATH", "/var/sites/d/dev.comptools.co.uk/public_html/vendors/codemanager");

// BASE URL TO CODIAD (without trailing slash) define("BASE_URL", "dev.comptools.co.uk/vendors/codemanager");

I hope this Solves every ones Code Manager issues.

this is an expansion from Rolf Økland's forum post to resolve both current problems with codemanager.
