Translating the GDPR/CCPA app
Having an online store these days allows you to introduce your products and service to customers worldwide. So one of your responsibilities is to ensure a seamless experience for the shoppers while visiting your website. Even though most of the world's population speak foreign languages, it is always useful to have an option for translation.
How to manually translate the GDPR/CCPA + Cookie Management app?
If your store uses only one language, you can manually translate the app by following the step listed below:
- Navigate to the Cookie Consent Bar tab in the admin and from there you will have the ability to change the texts in all fields: Cookie Consent text, Preferences popup, Privacy Policy link wording, Buttons text, etc.
- If you want to translate the GDPR compliance page, you can do so by going to Online Store > Pages and then choosing the GDPR compliance page (the same process applies to the CCPA page). When you enter the page, you can translate the title and the whole content.
*Note: This text is part of iSenseLabs’ compliance page and it is used as a reference. Please, make sure to keep the link and translate it correctly.
You can edit the text which appears when you click on the Edit your account information link by entering in the GDPR/CCPA compliance page, clicking on the Show HTML button, and changing the text.
Following the same steps, you are able to change the text in the section you are confirming your consent on using your email and IP.
The GDPR requested emails and pages also have an option for translation. Go to the Global Settings of the admin, and click on the Set Language For The GDPR/CCPA Requests Emails And Pages section, and choose the language you want to use. We offer a good variety of languages: English, French, German, Italian, Bulgarian, Finnish, Slovenian, Romanian, Portuguese, Hungarian, Spanish, Dutch, Czech, Croatian.
For those of you, who are premium users, the Language Browser Detection feature, will help with the translation process. Our app automatically detects the store language, in which the customer is currently browsing and translates the GDPR/CCPA request pages and emails into the corresponding language, which we have already translated. If the store is viewed in a non-existing language, the app uses the one set by default in the settings.
In case you want to translate your Cookie Consent Bar and Preferences popup in a couple of different languages, then take a closer look at some of the apps compatible with ours and how you can set them up in your store.
