Time to celebrate! 20 000 users of the GDPR/CCPA app

A milestone worth celebrating! We are thrilled to announce that the GDPR/CCPA + Cookie Management app is now used by over 20 000 merchants worldwide. We are grateful to all the people who trusted our service and decided to go with us in order to be GDPR/CCPA compliant. 

Our journey

We released the GDPR/CCPA app in July 2019, and 7 months later, we hit our 5000th installation. Since then, our focus was on adding value to the app and improving the user experience. Our goal has always been and will be providing the best compliance solution.
Here you will find a small part of the features and improvements that we added to the app:

  • Quick Setup - this is the first step you need to go through after installing the GDPR/CCPA app. There you can: Choose the region you want to enable the Cookie Bar for, Select between 3 different outlooks of the app (the design can be changed later), and Choose the type of cookies that will be blocked on the initial visit of your store.

  • Help Center improvements - There you can find a lot of useful resources plus a self-diagnose option that will help you with the most common issue: “Why the cookie bar is not showing?”

  • The new Translation tab includes video tutorials as well as two brand new sections: 'Refresh Metafields' and 'Add metafields to theme.liquid'. First, what are the metafields? Metafields are extra pieces of data that apps can attach to products, customers, orders, and other objects in Shopify. They are useful for storing information like part numbers, customer titles, blog post summaries, or as it is in this case - they help with the translation of specific fields introduced by 3rd party apps.

  • Since 2019 we have made many collaborations with different Shopify developers. In the new Integrations tab, you will see all other apps compatible with our GDPR/CCPA app.

By clicking on the featured apps, you will find an overview, a list of features, plus a video tutorial that shows the whole process of translating our GDPR app with the respective translation app.

  • New features in the Policy Acceptances tab show if the client has interacted with the Accept button or the Close button. In addition to that, it stores the type of cookies that the customer has decided to accept using. 

  • Setup Guide - It includes a list of steps such as Enable for Specific RegionsPrivacy Policy page setup, Cookie Management section configuration and others that will help you make your Shopify store compliant. You can navigate to the Setup Guide from the admin side of the app.

How the GDPR/CCPA Setup Guide looks like

  • Brand new Enterprise plan - We introduced this plan with having big marketplaces in mind and Shopify Plus stores. It contains all the features of the Pro plan plus new exclusive additions.

  • CCPA Compliance updates due to the new CCPA Do Not Sell Rule. For more information on how to set up your Shopify store as per the new rule, check this blog post.

  • In 2021 we started creating content for our YouTube channel dedicated to the features of the GDPR/CCPA app. We created a couple of playlists that will help you with the initial setting of the app, as well as tips and tricks on how to easily modify the app by your preferences. The GDPR/CCPA app "How to" Guide playlist is based on the most frequently asked questions sent to our support team. We also have the Translation Series playlist in place, where we gathered all the video tutorials related to the translation of our GDPR/CCPA app with the most popular translation apps out there: Weglot, Translate My Store, Translation Lab, Gtranslate, Langify, Transcy, LangShop.

Our goals
